Claire: Where are you originally from?
你原先從哪裡來的？
路人甲1： I’m from Mexico.
我來自墨西哥。
Claire: What do you do for a living?
你們是做什麼工作的？
路人甲1：I work at the Adult Literacy Services in the library.
我是在圖書館裡的成人識字服務部門工作。
Claire: How do you overcome the fear and nervousness to speak English with people here?
你是如何克服說英語的恐懼和緊張？
路人甲1：One of the things that helped me was to laugh with people, even if they were laughing at me.
有件能幫我舒緩緊張感的事情是和人們一起笑，即便他們是在嘲笑我。
Claire: That’s so mean.
他們也太過分了。
路人甲1：Laugh at yourself. You know, it’s something you have to just go for it.

Claire: So you guys are coworkers?

路人甲2：Yeah.

Claire: And what’s the hardest part about this role?

路人甲2：We help adults with their reading and writing and their English. So there’s just not enough people to go around to do all the work. But it is very rewarding work.

Claire: So what are some tips you would give to someone who’s learning English?

路人甲1：If you like music, find the lyrics to a song that you’re listening to and read along. That’s very helpful.

路人甲2：Complete English immersion. Read in English, listen to stuff in English, watch TV in English or use captions. Go to a library program and practice with people, like what you’re doing right now. Go to places that are relevant for your everyday life and learn English and use it to the best of your ability. It’s only going to help you.
完全沈浸在英語環境。用英語閱讀、聽英語的東西、看英文電視並使用字幕。參加圖書館課程並與人們一起練習，就像你現在所做的那樣。去與你日常生活相關的地方去學習英語，並盡可能地使用它。這一定會幫助你的。
